Being a kept thing was a concept Quinn really didn't understand. He was on his own, had been for a long time. As far as he was concerned, he didn't need any one else to make do -- he always found a way. Sufficed to say, his standard of living was no where near that of Taxi's. And Quinn did have a habit of mooching when he had the chance. The man really had no shame. He was going to interject a word of consolation, but it died on his lips.
Mortimer? MORTIMER?
He did his best to stifle his snickers but failed miserably. Eventually Quinn was able to regain control and he briefly covered his mouth with one of his hands. Holy hog in heaven, he was NOT expecting that. " I'm sorry, Taxi... I couldn't help it." Another poorly hidden chuckle, "Mortimer is a fine a name." His grin was borderline criminal.
Quinn sobered, though, when Taxi wrapped an arm around his neck and asked him that most interesting of questions. Oh, the man was more than aware of the lewd insinuations that he could exploit. It was a tempting thought, hell, it always was. He was sure Taxi was expecting him to make a sexual comment and perhaps that's why Quinn didn't.
" Flying." He stated simply, his smile soft as if hiding a secret. " My greatest fantasy is flying." He left it at that and made no effort to elaborate. Once upon a time he'd been a pilot, a flyboy. He'd fought in the war and he was good but not good enough. He was shot down and losing his wings had been the most terrifying and devastating experience in his life. A pilot's greatest love was the sky and he'd been robbed of the ability to reach it. He was still pretty pissed off about that.
He tilt his head back and looked down at Taxi with narrowed green eyes, smiling that soft smile of his.
"What about you? What's your greatest fantasy? Well, other than me, of course." He winked and his smile turned into a smirk. He was enjoying this closeness -- not only the physical, either. It was the... emotional connection. If that's what you would call it.
Quinn would say it was just talking, nothing more. He wouldn't ever admit to being a sap even if Taxi seemed to reduce him into one all the goddamn time.

Taxi's fur metaphorically bristled, sitting up and glaring at Quinn as he laughed. This was a, when you're sleeping, i'm going to wash the toilet with your tooth brush sort of glare and pout. Damn that name of his, Mortimer. It was such a horrid old styled name, and he had no idea where his father got it from, but the bastard refused to call him anything but. It just made him think of dust and books, just hearing it made him want to sneeze. Oh well, the fact that Quinn stopped laughing and atleast tried to hide it was what mattered.
He would pay for it later, though. One way or another. When the answer to his question came he was actually mildly relieved. Atleast it hadn't been something horrible like, fucking a goat, or, you in a dress. Green eyes settled on Quinns features as he spoke about flying, just enjoying listening to him, settling back down comfortably. Flying? Like in a plane, or like a bird? Taxi had never given flying much thought. It was nice, though, that Quinn had such a pleasant dream.
The blonde had become so lost in Quinns face that he barely heard the question, just soaking in that light smile and the eyes, the eyes that were looking at him, that cared. "Me?" He said softly after pausing to bite his lovers nose in retaliation. It was as though he was surprised Quinn would return the question. Taxi let his vision drop in thought, mulling over it in his mind.
"I think i'd like to live just one human life." He mused to himself, shifting so that his back was to the taller mans chest, leaning leisurely. Taxi had completely forgotten about the weather and was absorbed in their conversation. Before, where he had been able to pick out every little drop of water, it was becoming an almost soothing roar of sound.

He'd dreamed of flying like a bird as a child. Quinn envied their skill, their ability to go where ever they wanted. They weren't tethered to the Earth like humans were -- well, most humans. Quinn had witnessed the abilities of pilots by sitting right outside his home. They had lived near a base and he had the treat of seeing the army pilots practice their sorties nearly every day. That was what made him decide, as a kid, that he wanted to fly.
Nothing was going to stop him.
And for a while there nothing had. He'd made it, he'd became a pilot. Then he was shipped off to Europe to fight in a war that had long since been waging. Shot down. Stripped of his wings. Robbed of his plane, his freedom, his identity -- that period in his human life had been horrible. He'd been one of the fortunate one's though. Some one, a vampire, had killed him and given him a new life. The one he was "living" now.
He'd planned on keeping to himself, reaching out to others only to fulfill his basic, primal need for contact and sex. Quinn never expected to have fallen so damned hard -- especially for a German man. The wounds of the past were still there but he could look past what ever subconscious dislike he harbored for the German people, if only for Taxi.
There was a whimsical, sweet sort of smile that pulled at Quinn's lips, the gesture warming his cool green eyes. A human life? Quinn found that oddly amusing, but in a endearing, thoughtful way. It was true that vampires lived forever and Quinn had the prospect of spending all eternity with Taxi. But to grow old together? That'd be something entirely different, a way to bond on a totally different level. Then there was the prospect of the afterlife, if there was one. There'd be no heaven or hell for the likes of them.
Quinn's eyes glazed over and drifted towards one of the boarded-up windows. His thoughts were entangled in the prospect of a human life. What would it be like to get older, to slow down? What would he look like? What would Taxi look like? Would they even be mildly attracted to each other if they were old and wrinkled? Would it even matter?
The man hardly ever gave time to such romantic, trivial thoughts, but right now, with the rain as music and Taxi as company, Quinn couldn't help but give into them. Finally drawing himself from his thoughts, Quinn placed a small, lingering kiss at the corner of Taxi's mouth. He smiled then and laughed a short and quiet laugh.
" A human life?" He repeated, voice low and soft, words spoken through his smile. " You're not afraid of getting old? Of dying?" Quinn questioned, eyes wandering over the older vampire's features. It was comfortable with Taxi like this, sitting together while talking about fanciful things. There was a serious undercurrent to their conversation, but that was easily overlooked.
"Hell, good thing we are vampires, though..." His voice trailed off as he looked down to the floor for a brief instant. He huffed out a humored breath of air and met Taxi's gaze. " Otherwise you would've been dead and gone before I was even born."

He wouldn't know of flying. The airforce had never been part of his tasks where he was assigned, and even now, with private jets, it was of no concern. When the other had spoken of it though, it was a rather nice thought, really. Absolute freedom to do whatever you want, go wherever you want. Then again, he already did sort of do that. But there was always that looming presence. No, he was right, it would be nice to fly, for all there to be would be the night sky above you and the lights of the cities or the dark ocean below you. Nothing else. Although. It seemed like an awful lot of work.
A smile was drawn from him as the kiss was given, reminding him of where he was, of the strong hands that held him. Oh god, it was still just sinking in how much Taxi was utterly and hopelessly in love with this younger man. Him, Mortimer, who was terrified of the concept of being tied to one person for what might be forever, or of losing them. Of having his heart crushed. Or those memories of being trapped up with another vampire in, my god, a wedding. That had happened far too often in his life, being married off to some woman who he loathed but eventually grew fond of enough to be crushed when she was murdered. Bad memories and anxiety about emotions were forgotten easily when a sound reached his ears. How that laugh just made his heart flutter and his eyes close, just enjoying the sound of it. The blonde leaned his head back into the crook of Quinns neck, shaking his head to the question. No, he wasn't afraid of a human death or getting old.
He had spent enough years in the body of an eighteen year old god to know that even though this form was utterly delightful and perfect for his needs, there was something about watching everyone grow around him that drove him insane. Even his father grew. But it wasn't just the growing old or eventually croaking that he yearned for. It was the act of a human existance. Being able to walk in the sun, oh god, how he wanted to walk in the sun. He had seen movies and heard about it, but the blonde had never even seen it with his own two eyes. Not a once in is miserable existance. Being born a mutt had many disadvantages. That, and never tasting food. Well, never enjoying it. He had eaten it and always found himself horribly sick seconds afterwards.
Just having a loving family. Having a spouse, and maybe a place to live, a house you just stayed at. People to be around. He always heard people talking about it, family and friends, those were the most important things in life. Growing old with people you loved and who returned the feeling, being able to carry on, get a job, work for a living, buy things, have responsbility. Those were all notions utterly lost of this incarnation of Taxi. Perhaps in another life, if he ever managed to die.
"I'm perfectly happy to be dead with you, though." He laughed softly, delighted with himself and turned his head to catch Quinns eyes in his, taking a second to marvel in just how lovely that shade of green was when it caught even the faintest light. "Uh huh, and you better not forget it, either. Respect your elders and all that-" He grinned, reaching up to run a finger along Quinns jaw, up against that scruffy facial hair he adored.

As far as Quinn was concerned freedom was synonymous with flight. When he had had the ability to do so, to break away from the Earth, there was nothing else like it. Everything looked different from within the cockpit of a plane. The world was smaller and it put things into perspective, really. Every one lived on the same goddamn little planet. That's the realization that kept his heart out of the war, despite how patriotic he'd been raised to be.
Death and his subsequent rebirth had afforded him a different kind of freedom. He still missed the sky and all it had to offer, but life among the ranks of the undead wasn't so bad. He was free of any obligations a mortal man had. There were no bills to pay for him, he was a practiced and master squatter. There weren't any taxes, no work to go to. Hell, it was pretty damned nice if he thought about it. The only thing he had to really worry about (other than the sun and starving) was boredom. He didn't have to contend with that right now and recently thanks to Taxi.
He ran his eyes over the older man with the younger face. That was another strange thing about vampirism. Quinn was older in body but Taxi had a vast amount of years on him. Quinn said nothing and only smiled in response. A wicked glint in that green gaze of his was Taxi's only warning. He turned his head quickly and drew the other's finger into his mouth, running his tongue over the tip of the digit. Quinn let Taxi slide free with a wet popping sound and then ran his tongue over his lips before grinning roguishly.
" Aren't you sweet," The man purred out more in response to Taxi's words than anything else. " Hmm," He hummed out softly, lips quirking into an impish smile. " And if I don't show respect, what then?" Quinn jested, his words carrying that familiar suggestive undertone. He was just fooling around; for some reason he was in a whimsical mood.

Considering their night had actually been more verbal then physical, Taxi was surprised when Quinn sneakily stole his finger, an unexpected shiver running down his spine. Eyes widened slightly and he tilted his head upwards till he realized what had happened, and immediately let himself sink back down into the euphoria that was sitting in the lap of his lover, grinning fiercing as he watched the other mans face. All of his wonderfully white and sharp teeth were marvelous in the dim lights, which had come back on while Taxi was deep in thought and hadn't noticed it.
And then he had the others deep and incredibly handsome voice to enjoy, especially with that undertone that made him giddy as hell. The blonde couldn't believe his luck sometimes, to have Quinn looking at him like that. Then again, he was Taxi, so he couldn't horribly surprised. If only his stomach didn't feel like it was full of winged insects, driving him insane. Damn those emotions. Ignore them for now, forget them, all that mattered was in the now.
"Then i'll have to do something like this~" The german said in a deep throated purr, letting the words to slip off of his moist tongue and under those horrible little fangs. He dragged that now wet finger through Quinns hair as he shifted himself up, looking down his nose foxishly at the man before reaching down to catch his lips in a ki-
BOOOOMcccCCCrrrAAAAaaaCCCcccccckkkKKKKkkksnap
Lightning had struck nearby, and the static in the air had caused the transformer next to the building to explode in a noise to nearly rival that of the thunder that followed. The light bulb popped in the room, cracking in an equally marvelous noise.
To Taxi, though, this wasn't marvelous at all. Like a cat who had just been spooked he lept up in the air and beelined for the mattress in the corner of the room. With truely alarming speed he was under the blankets. Eyes wide, dead heart beating with stolen blood, but breath silent as though something was coming for him and he didn't want whatever it was to hear him. Utterly quaking in fear, curled up and clutching the fabric for dear life.
Fucking weather. That uncontrollable force he loathed, hell, no, screw his earlier fantasy. He'd rather have a world where he was immune to lightning. And rain. And... and spontaneous combustion.

With Quinn there was always a chance for things to turn sexual. It was just in his nature. He'd been a good boy for the most part, having suppressed any urges to just throw the blonde into bed for a nice little romp. Actually, to be honest, those urges hadn't really reared their collective horny selves until now. Quinn had actually been very much enthralled with their conversation. He liked to hear what Taxi had to say; he liked to learn about the perfect little German.
But now, in the light of their close proximity and with the taste of Taxi's flesh lingering on his tongue, Quinn's brain had shifted gears. Sucking on body parts (even a finger) tended to turn things in the sexual direction. It'd been a reaction, one fueled by a sudden playfulness that had arisen in the younger vampire.
Green eyes glinted with wicked mischief as Taxi leaned in and Quinn was oh-so-ready to delve into that familiar, but oh-so-wonderful mouth of his. But no, Mother Nature decided to PMS and be a freaking annoying bitch. He cursed under his breath as the object of his affection and desire (he was horny as hell) flew off his lap and promptly disappeared under his covers.
Inside he nearly screamed in frustration. There'd be no fondling, foreplay, and fun that night. Not with the prospect of Taxi being so damned frightened. Even Quinn wasn't cruel enough in his lust to force himself on the other in a situation like this. But that didn't mean he had to be happy about it. He had the right to pout, if only for a second.
He stood up from where he was sitting and sighed out softly, managing a small smile. Green eyes landed on the hump hidden under the blankets and he bit back the urge to laugh. Damned if Taxi wasn't cute though. He had so many childish tendencies, they made him almost innocent, almost angelic. It was easy to forget that they were blood-thirsty leeches, if only when he was with the blonde.
Quinn ambled over to the other -- yes, he ambled, his pants were kind of uncomfortable at the moment-- and crouched down at the side of the mattress. He pulled a stunt that would leave the world slack-jawed in surprise. Quinn ignored the voice in his head that screamed "sex, sex, sex, relief," and gently picked up the covers. Quinn paused then, as if debating something. He gave a small huff of laughter before raising the covers higher and slipping under them, next to Taxi.
The man threw one arm over the blonde's waist and used the other to serve as a pillow underneath his head. As he spoke, his breath ruffled through those soft yellow locks of hair.
" You know, you are a goddamn tease even when you don't intend to be." This time the man did laugh and his chuckle was soft, affectionate.
" You're okay, though, so don't be afraid. We're inside, the storm's outside. And I'm relatively certain the roof and walls will hold." He couldn't help it, he smirked and the gesture was hidden in Taxi's golden head of hair.
Quinn sniffed and sighed.
" I'm taking a rain check on what we had going on earlier. It's only fair." Pun intended.

It was actually one of the oddest sensations of his entire life, to have all fear wash off of his body with a single act of another. With the touch of the other male, an arm casually placed across him and kind words, he found himself replacing terror with surprise, and then a soothing coat of relaxation and the general warm-fuzzies. Something he had honestly not expected in the least. Afterall, Quinn had indeed left him all alone that one evening that didn't seem that long ago. Of course, that was over and all was forgiven, but the memory still held fast in his mind... He hadn't truely been the type who would crawl into bed with him in this manner. Perhaps, those wretched feelings which plunged deep down his throat and landed in his heart after tearing his stomach to bits were.. mutual?
If someone like this could truely tolerate his antics.. Eyes opened so that he could glance over his shoulder (But found it was too dark to see his face), still clutching the blankets in his hands to his chest, but untensing the rest of his body. Afterall, in the short time they had known eachother, Quinn knew quite a bit about him and had seen a lot of what he was. They had fought, both verbally and physically, they had had incredibly satisfying sex, and discussed their families. To think that the younger man could put up with this, perhaps... Hands relaxed their grip on the cloth and one went under his head and the other found its way to hold the larger hand thrown across him, seeking the comfort it offered. If these thoughts were anything other then his deranged mind still tweaking out from the storm, then maybe he shouldn't deny what was horribly obvious.
What was horribly obvious though, was that any sexual desire of his was gone. It was pitch black and Taxi already had horrible vision. There was rain and thunder and wind. It was that weather that was not only terrifying on its own, but brought back recollections of the old country. It was on such a subconsious level, though, it didn't even occur to him that there was any greater reason. It didn't currently matter though, as Taxi was now happy to lean back into the man who was still all manly and gruff even if he was engaging in otherwise adorable snuggles and pull the hand he had claimed around himself, mumbling a little tired, "Mine."
As for the rain check, the blonde had every intention and then some of repaying Quinn for listening to his woes, saving him from the lightning, and then holding him. He'd find a way. It had been a long night though, and it wouldn't take Taxi long to pass off pleasantly into dreams.
