Silas was such a mother hen that sometimes it bordered on annoying. He was just so used to the role as protector and big brother that he tended to give everyone that attention. There was one vivid instance of just how much of a mother hen he really could be. When Quinn, who was around seventeen at the time, sat in the passenger side of the car, Silas had actually leaned over him and tried to buckle him in. Of course said scenario ended with an indignant Quinn who scowled and sulked all the way to the fishing hole. Silas couldn't help it, it was in his nature.
Looking at Gabri when the Pole at last opened the door, Silas' heart went out to him. Call it his caring character or his need to recapture his younger years with his brother, Silas felt a burst of new energy. He didn't think too long on what Gabri said about the dead man in the tub. It didn't make sense to someone who didn't see what Gabri did. Silas thought maybe he was just feeling a little under the weather or something.
There was one thing that could fix everything though, something Silas hadn't indulged in for decades.
" Nevermind that," Silas dismissed with a kind smile, " How about you and I go out for some icecream?" Maybe it was a ridiculous notion to invite a grown man out for dessert, but who could pass on a chance for icecream? The treat smoothed over any situation and cured even the worst of moods. Besides, Silas figured he should give his brother and Taxi some time alone. He didn't say that, but Silas was sure Gabri suspected the same. He didn't particularly agree with Quinn's choice of... genders to date, but Quinn was his baby brother. Silas would love him no matter what.
"I'll pay of course." And by that Silas meant that dead-man-in-tub would pay. The recluse had stashed an impressive amount of money in a shoebox under his bed. It wasn't as if the man was going to use it any time soon.
In the sitting area Quinn held Taxi as well as he could in their position. He rubbed soothing circles into the blonde's back and whispered consoling words. It wasn't often that Quinn allowed himself to feel guilty -- he usually managed to blame everything on someone else-- but in this case there was no escaping it. He felt rotten for leaving Taxi for the second time, enough for his dead-heart to sink under the weight of his guilt.
"I promise I won't." Was all that Quinn said. A short reply, but he meant it in earnest. He loved Taxi, he really did, even if he had never voiced it. A sad-sweet smile then graced his lips and Quinn was glad, too, for how things were going. He had Taxi, he had his brother, and the little reaper was starting to grow on him too. It'd been a long time since Quinn had been within a group of people he cared for. It was comforting, almost disarming.
He'd then gently coax Taxi's face from his neck and sneak a kiss. It was short but sweet. Quinn wasn't sure Gabri or Silas were ready to see such affection. Even the jerk-of-a-man could be considerate, sometimes.
"Everything's going to be okay now." He said it and he believed it. Quinn fought the urge to lean in for another kiss, frustrated with the inability to act on what he wanted. He sighed out and settled for running his hand through Taxi's hair, recapturing the sensation of it between his fingers.
