History:
((Will Work this out more later))
-- Served in the military with an exemplary record
-- Lost a bunch of guys in a mission gone bad. Think Mogudishu.
-- Started to drink and didn't stop.
-- Thrown out of the military
-- Working odd jobs now trying to make ends meet and to facilitate his bad habits.
Personality:
Sage is actually a pretty nice guy, despite his horrible habits. He has periods of depression, though, brought on when he realizes just how messed up his life has become. Mostly he's able to ignore that and carry on with life with a smile and good attitude. He's very friendly with everyone and anyone but can be quick to anger if he's offended.
He doesn't have an ego per say, but still maintains some manner of pride. Say something bad about him, his family, or the army and he's likely to get miffed. Sage has the tendency of making friends but never really following through. He'll make promises that he thinks will make them happy but won't keep them. Sometimes he forgets.
Sage isn't one for relationships, either. His self-confidence is lacking so he really doesn't feel like he'd do anyone any good. He's a bum, really, and Sage believes he'd just drag a person down with him. He'd never let himself do that. He really does mean well and views himself as baggage. No one deserves that kind of stress in their life.
Sometimes he has episodes of nervousness for no apparent reason and will refuse to leave his house, the feeling a dread keeping him glued to somewhere he considers safe and comfortable. This issue is probably a parting present from the war, brought on by post-traumatic-stress-disorder.
Sage in a nutshell is a nice guy with bad habits who always means well, but doesn't always do well. He doesn't hate himself but he doesn't love himself either. He just is.
Extra:
-- Allergic to cats
-- Has trouble sleeping if it's too quiet.
-- Afraid of rodents. Not enough to scream like a girl, but enough to get squicked
-- A closet geek. Loves video games and the sci-fi channel
-- He's actually a damned good cook.
