Language Ahead.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?!" A voice, high in volume but more so in liquid anger rang out into the street his fists clenched into tiny shaking balls as he looked down at his belongings. Cody's clothes, valuables, books, cds, and other items were scattered about the walkway and the road, his body moving quickly to pick them all up before others could as more tumbled down from the steps before him.
"You're being kicked out Boy. Ya didn't get your rent in on time."
Came the hard ass tone of the other as more clothes were thrown into the air and made the younger man even more furious as he narrowed his gaze on the unruly landlord. "But I did! I gave it to you two weeks in advance! What the Hell are you talking about?!" Cody spat, body shaking mildly as he quickly gathered up the tossed clothes and pilled them on top of the other things he had picked up.
"Well I need the space, so you paid for one month, you got one month. End of story. See ya kid."
And with that the landlord turned back around, leaving the heavily breathing shifter to try to calm down and get his head together. However his tongue lashed out before he could stop it. "Your a motherfuckin' bastard! Where the fuck am I supposed to go?!"
"Not my problem Boy."
The door clicked and all the young man could hear was the blood pumping through his ears and the hastened heartbeat in his chest. He was screwed. All this articles and valuables were nestled in a large pile before him as he dropped his head and closed his eyes. Nothing but a street mutt, with no were to live and no were to go. What was he supposed to do now?

His days off were few and far between, or so it felt. Even when John did have a day off, he could never be sure if he'd actually have the day off. If the SWAT guys called him in, he'd have to come. That's how it worked. John knew that before he joined and he couldn't complain; the other men had to perform the same job. It'd be a lie to say that sometimes he really wanted that day off without worrying about his pager going off, waiting in anticipation.
John had debated on working fixing some odds and ends in his apartment, but decided that they could wait. As he got older he tended to let those odd jobs pass by and procrastinate more and more. The man had wanted to get out, though, and had left his home without getting anything done. A walk would be nice, he had decided, and maybe he'd stop by the pastry shop run by that small, elderly Polish woman that he liked so much. It'd be breaking the law --his law-- by eating one of those fat-loaded pastries, but he figured he could be bad. Just this once. Just like last week and the week before.
John poked his abdomen thoughtfully and frowned. He'd just do more crunches or something. Whistling some old folksy song, John strode down the street in an easy pace. It was a big city, yes, but walking down a familiar street meant you saw familiar faces. He smiled and greeted a few people as he passed them by. All in all, John felt that it was going to be a good day.
Well, maybe not for that guy. The agent had rounded the corner and witnessed what had happened between landlord and tenant. Being the soft-hearted, well-meaning kind of guy he was, John felt compelled to console the young man. Cody was looking rather lost and pathetic and man, did that ever make John feel bad for the kid. That's what he was, really, compared to John. A kid.
" Hey, man... are you alright?" It was a stupid question, of course he wasn't alright, he'd just lost a place to stay, but John didn't know what else to say. By the tone of his voice and his expression, it was obvious that the SWAT agent was a well-meaning and genuinely concerned person.

Cody had been to concentrated on keeping himself in check to even notice another had come up to him much less asked a question. So when an unfamiliar voice floated into the air, the Shifter spun around and stumbled over his pile of objects gaining his balance a couple seconds later.
Running a hand through his blond strands, Cody's eyes shifted from the man to his pile before he smiled faintly. Letting out a large sigh, the young man shrugged his shoulders and tilted his head off to the side, looking down at the sidewalk. "I'll be alright... Just... Need to find a new place now... Can't believe I got the boot for doing things right, ya know?" With a light and sad chuckle, the boy bent down to his things and began sorting them into piles of 'needs' and 'don't needs'. Cranking his brain to think of something to do.
This whole thing was shit. He'd done everything right for once and it got him kicked out on his ass. Cody had no idea what he was going to do and felt a single tear fall from his eyes. Blinking, the shifter sat back on his heels and wiped it off with a finger, glancing at it as he shrugged again and whispered, "Wow... Never thought I would tear up like this..."

Here he'd thought that the day was going to be good, and now John could plainly see that for Cody, everything was going wrong. The blonde was young and that made the older man feel even more sympathetic. John knew how hard it was to start out on your own at a young age. His late teens and early twenties had probably been the hardest period in his life. When Cody's emotions started to get the better of him, John placed a consoling hand onto the young man's shoulder and gave a gentle squeeze.
"Come on kid, don't get so upset. You'll find somewhere else to stay, somewhere where the landlord isn't such a jerk." At that John gave a grin and stepped back, looking and Cody thoughtfully. He couldn't in good conscious leave the kid to fend for himself. John was a nice guy, really, he was. His occupation may have been rough and dangerous, but at his core he was a benevolent, warm individual. That meant he went out of his way to help people he thought needed it.
"Tell you what. I can help you find a place. All we need is a newspaper, right? Then we can start looking." John offered the young man a helpful smile and dropped his doe-brown eyes to the pile of belongings. " Just figure out what you want and what you don't want. I'll call a taxi, we can go get some breakfast, a newspaper, and start looking for a place for you to stay?" The Swat officer offered, his tone friendly and light. Maybe he was calm and happy, it would rub off on the kid. John hated to see anyone in such a sorry state.

Cody glanced up when a hand was placed on his shoulder, quickly wiping away the tear with the back of his hand as he continued to kneel by his mess of belongings. Then when the man stepped away from him, the boy blinked in slight confusion. "Y-you'll help me?" Continuing to blink, his features still unbelieving he listened intently as the other began to list of the things they would do one of which involved calling a cab and eating. A grin suddenly spread across his features, his body rising from the ground in one fluid motion as he suddenly launching himself at the guy.
Arms fell around him in a tiny bear hug as he muttered 'thank you, thank you' over and over again. It wasn't until a couple seconds later, that he remember this guy was almost a complete stranger and Cody pulled away slowly, a blush present on his cheeks as he knelt back down to his things quickly. "S-sorry..." The shifter voiced meekly, hands flying shakily through the things on the ground.
It wasn't long before the pup stood up with a suitcase and a backpack bulging with things, as the rest lay in a sorry pile on the ground. A smile was plastered over his features, lighting up his face as he looked up at John and outstretched his free hand. "I'm Cody by the way."
